If we look hard at whatever is in front of us, we can make marks that capture its essential character.
It can be a still object, a changing scene or a moving person, and drawing it can take an hour or more, or just a few seconds. Handled in this way, drawing can be a powerful way of understanding more about the people, things and places around us.
What’s more, children (this drawing is by an 11 yr old) and adults alike can quickly learn how to do it.
